In a College of Health Sciences led initiative aimed at transforming teaching practices in Liberia, faculty members from the University of Liberia College of Health Sciences (ULCHS) and other undergraduate programs at the University of Liberia recently completed an intensive Pedagogy Training Program.

Hosted by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation (CTLI) in partnership with Vanderbilt and Yale Universities, the program spans three months from February to April 2024 and is designed to elevate teaching standards and foster innovation in education.

Structured in three dynamic phases, the program developed participants foundational teaching techniques, interactive learning methodologies, and personalized mentorship to empower participants with cutting-edge pedagogical strategies.

On April 3, 2024 ten exceptional teachers graduated and presented standardized portfolios, including teaching methods, and a commitment to modernize classroom instruction.

Anthoinite Wright, one of the graduates, expressed profound gratitude for the invaluable guidance and transformative insights gained during the program. She emphasized how the training has revolutionized her teaching approach, stating, "We've acquired new teaching techniques, enhancing our existing knowledge. The methods we've learned from this training will greatly benefit our classroom instruction."

Dr. Odell W. Kumeh, in a closing remark, commended the dedication of both facilitators and participants, underscoring the program's role in fostering a culture of excellence in teaching.

The successful completion of this innovative Pedagogy Training Program represents a significant stride towards a more effective and standardized educational system in Liberia, heralding a new era of pedagogical excellence at ULCHS.
