In a College of Health Sciences led initiative aimed at transforming teaching practices in Liberia, faculty members from the University of Liberia College of Health Sciences (ULCHS) and other undergraduate programs at the University of Liberia recently completed an intensive Pedagogy Training Program.
​Hosted by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation (CTLI) in partnership with Vanderbilt and Yale Universities, the program spans three months from February to April 2024 and is designed to elevate teaching standards and foster innovation in education.

Topic: Camp xSEL 2024 student recruitment has been completed across the 15 counties of Liberia. ULCHS has graduated 10 outstanding teachers from its Innovative Pedagogy Training program.

Topic: The Health Entrepreneurship Advancement Leveraging Research (HEALR) program has launched Cohort 2 of the Creation Course, featuring 6 inspiring teams and 7 health entrepreneurs who have advanced from the Ideation Course. The CTLI Faculty Development Mentorship training certified over 9 faculty members from the University of Liberia who completed a 4-day mentorship training on how to be an effective mentor.

Topic: ULCHS Center for Teaching Learning and Innovation, in collaboration with YALE & Vanderbilt Universities, has successfully certified 18 Health Policymakers in Evidence-Based Health Policy from the Ministry of Health, The National Public Health Institute, and the Montserrado County Health Team.

Topic: Camp xSEL 2024 hosted an Alumni and Career Day program for the Montserrado and Maryland camps. The Career Day focused on the importance of choosing a career path in the health sciences, with a lineup of sports activities between current campers and alumni.

Topic: Camp xSEL Cohort 4 graduated over 104 students from the Montserrado camp and the satellite camp at Tubman University, in Harper City, Maryland County, on August 29, 2024. The camp brought together high school students from all 15 counties of Liberia who have an interest in the health sciences.
